A new course launching at Bath College to help men return to the workplace
A new free course run by the Adult Community Learning department here at Bath College is designed to help men improve their employment prospects and return to the workplace. Momentum is designed to give men the tools and confidence that they need to take the next step towards employment.
Starting in January 2023 and aimed at men who are unemployed or on low income, Momentum will focus on areas such as confidence and self-esteem, including identifying aspirations and skills, goal-setting, resilience, overcoming barriers, creating healthy routines and habits, and so much more before planning out what their next steps will be.
“One of the most important parts of the course is that anyone taking part will be taking the journey with other men who are in a similar position,”
explained Clive Bennett from Bath College, who will be leading the course.
“It’s a completely new initiative for men aged over 25 and living across the BANES region, offering free face-to-face training. We have a few guys who have gained employment through our courses including a guy in his 30s who was really lacking confidence before he completed our short Life Academy. As a result of the course, his confidence grew incredibly in just one week. He’d gone for an interview before the course started and they called him back for a second interview which was just after the course. The response from the interviewers was that he was unrecognisable from the first interview and he got the job.”
