Jewellery and Silversmithing (23/24)

Course Overview

This course is taught in our well-equipped specialist jewellery studio.
Jewellery students will be working at their own pace, to make objects such as rings, earrings, pendants, bangles and brooches. Skills such as hand piercing, soldering, embossing, casting, hammer, textures and patination will be taught. All skills are taught using copper and gilding metal, students can then buy precious metals if they wish.

Silver-smithing students will be working at their own pace to make small objects in metal such as a bowl, box, egg-cup, nightlight holder, napkin ring and will learn skills such as raising metal from flat to 3D, planishing, repousse, scoring and medium scale soldering. Student learn techniques using copper or gilding metal and can buy precious metals if they wish.

The course is for all levels and beginners are welcome!

This course is a mixed ability course - ideal for both new students and returning students with prior experience in either of these craft disciplines
To avoid disappointment, please make sure you enrol on your chosen course early. Decisions regarding running or cancelling a course are made one week prior to the start of the course. If a course is cancelled, you will be informed and your course fees refunded in full. Please see Terms and Conditions of Enrolment. The course will not run on bank holidays or during half term. You will need an apron or old shirt to protect your clothes, sturdy shoes or boots, hair needs to be tied back.
