Preparing for Adulthood Fair returns to showcase local SEND services

The Preparing for Adulthood Fair, a partnership event between Bath College, Three Ways School and Fosse Way School, returns to the Somer Valley Campus of the College in their bespoke SEND Centre on 5th October.

The purpose of the Fair is to showcase all the options and support available to young people with SEND or an EHCP in the B&NES area. Exhibitors range from payment advisors, care providers, specialist colleges, housing associations, clubs and day services including B&NES Council, Curo, The Life Project, SWALLOW, Off the Record, Bath Rugby Foundation, Home from Home Care and many more.

Emily Cottle, SEND & Inclusion Manager at Bath College said:

“We’re delighted to be able to host the Preparing for Adulthood Fair in our SEND Centre, Wellow House, again for 2022. Not only will it be a great opportunity for us to showcase to the local community the scope of our SEND provision, but also a chance to show our learners’ families all the brilliant support and services they can access outside of College.”

Fiona Skinner, Headteacher at Fosseway School added:

“The Preparing for Adulthood Fair should be the most important event in the calendar for any parent of or student with SEND. Whilst thinking about next steps can be daunting, knowing the options will empower parents and young people in the decision-making process. This is the only event of its kind where all the local providers are under one roof and available to discuss options. Parents from Fosse Way who have visited in previous years have said that the Fair was invaluable in understanding next steps.”

Lucy Beattie, Fundraising, Marketing and Development Manager at Three Ways School has organised the event. She said:

“Thinking about the next step after school is a daunting prospect for any parent or carer so having as much information as possible about what is on offer is really important. In working with local, regional and national organisations we hope to bring together a range of providers with specialist knowledge and facilities for young people with learning and physical disabilities. The Preparation for Adulthood Fair is a great opportunity to start to thing about the next step and we are so pleased we can offer this face to face again this year!”

The Fair takes place at Wellow House, Bath College Somer Valley Campus in Radstock, on Wednesday 5th October 2pm-5pm.
