Bath College proudly signs the Armed Forces Covenant, pledging to support serving personnel, veterans & their families
On the 5th July 2023, Principal and CEO Jayne Davis met with Royal Air Force, Wing Commander Alex Drake, to sign the Armed Forces Covenant, a pledge of commitment to honour & respect the Armed Forces community.
The Armed Forces Covenant is a commitment to treat those who serve, those who have served, and their families with fairness & respect, and Bath College is proud to count itself amongst other businesses, educational institutions and non-profits who have already signed their name.
With it’s pledge Bath College has committed its support in several ways, such as supporting the employment of Armed Forces Veterans, recognising the value and skills they bring with them from their experiences, such as problem-solving & working under pressure. Bath College will also strive to support the employment of service spouses & partners, and members of the Reserve Forces, by offering a degree of flexibility & leave during deployments. There will also be recognition for those who are Cadet Force Adult volunteers, to help support local military cadet units, as well as commercial support with discounts offered for members of the Armed Forces Community.
Jayne Davis, Principal & CEO of Bath College delivered a short speech before signing the covenant:
“At Bath College we don’t believe in our bravest being forgotten. One of the College’s strategic pillars involves us building an inclusive learning community where no-one is left behind. With this at the forefront of what we do, we believe in giving all we can, and doing all we can, to ensure that every individual that has served in our Armed Forces, and their families, faces no barrier to their learning & development. That is why signing The Armed Forces Covenant is very important to us. Our motto is Developing Skills, Inspiring Individuals & Encouraging all, and signing the covenant will help us achieve that.”
