Course Overview
Bath College offers Higher National Diploma (HND) in General, Mechanical and Electrical and Electronic Engineering courses. The HND is for those seeking to develop their knowledge and skills and build on their Level 4 HNC qualification with further academic study. Studied over one years, the course content is directly relevant to the profession to enable students to make an immediate or on-going difference in employment. These courses are delivered over one day per week for 36 weeks making it suitable for those employed in industry who are permitted day release.
General Engineering course is for those engineers who need to be conversant with both mechanical, electrical, and electronic aspects of engineering and is a compilation of mechanical and electrical options.
Frequently Asked Questions
HNC Engineering or equivalent qualifications with Grade C/4 GCSE Maths and English. Mature students will be considered individually and are encouraged to apply.

How will I be taught and assessed?
You will be taught via a mixture of lectures, laboratory workshops and directed independent study tasks. Work and progress is assessed by a range of methods, which may include assignments, projects, case studies and practical exercises. Employers may also be involved with project work and other assessments to help ensure that course content is up to date and relevant.
Successful HND graduates are eligible to enroll onto the final year of a bachelor’s degree to top up their qualification.

What is the aim of the course?
Pearson BTEC Higher Nationals are designed to help students secure the knowledge skills and behaviours needed to succeed in the workplace.
