Course Overview

This level 3 programme is designed to support your move into a professional role in the health sector and/or into higher education qualifications such as nursing, midwifery, radiography, teaching, counselling, psychology, social work and many more. The course will provide with a broad understanding of the sector, and develop essential knowledge and skills to enable you to work in a health and social care profession. Subject studied within this programme include human development, psychology, anatomy, psychology, sociology and health and safety as well as science-based units.

Entry Requirements
These courses are predominantly for 16-19 year olds and have different requirements depending on level. To study at level 3 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above to include English Language and maths, and a clear DBS check.

You will be assessed through classroom-based lessons, coursework and assessment in related settings.
What can I do next?
Depending on where you start this pathway, you can progress to Level 2 or 3 of Health & Social Care. There are also options to take Children’s Care, Learning and Development Level 3 course. Outside of the College, you can move onto employment within Health and Social Care or within Health Sciences. Or (for those who achieve Level 3) you can take your studies further at university.
Are there any additional costs?
For Levels 2 and 3 there are costs relating to travelling to and from placements. Some placements may require a uniform.

What is the aim of the course?
The aim of the pathway is to provide you with an opportunity to explore the health care sector and to gain an understanding and interest in developing the skills and knowledge to work within the industry. The courses are most suited to 16-18 year olds starting their vocational learning. Those who successfully complete their programme will achieve a nationally recognised qualification at the appropriate level.
