This AAT Level 3 qualification is a progression route for students who have achieved the Level 2 Certificate in Accounting. It covers a range of essential and higher-level accounting techniques and disciplines. Students will learn and develop skills needed for complex financial processes, including maintaining cost accounting records, advanced bookkeeping and the preparation of financial reports and returns. They will also understand technology used to provide management accounting information, business issues regarding payroll and VAT, and ethical principles and sustainability considerations for accountants.
This qualification will provide students with the specialist knowledge and skills to progress into employment in an accounting or finance role, or to further study. It is suitable for students who are looking to develop their skills in accounting, or for those who have started working in finance and want to attain formal recognition of their skills.
AAT qualifications are internationally recognised. Members are represented at every level of the finance and accounting world, including students studying for a career in finance, people already working in accountancy and self-employed business owners.
This course is aimed at adults aged 18 and 19+. This qualification is a progression route for students who have achieved the Level 2 Certificate in Accounting. It is also suitable for those who have already started their journey in studying a related subject and are looking to develop their skills in accounting or attain formal recognition of their skills.
All applicants will be invited to an interview with the course tutor which
may include an initial assessment to ensure the qualification is appropriate for
them. It will also be the opportunity to ask any specific questions you might
have about the programme.
This course has four mandatory units and will cover the following areas:
You will be taught by a specialist tutor via face-to-face lessons in the classroom and online sessions. Assessments are computer based and will take place on campus. They may include multiple-choice questions, numeric gap-full questions, or question tools that replicate workplace activities. In the Business Awareness unit, some tasks will require extended written responses.
Students who are not local or unable to travel to the campus to participate in the exams will need to arrange this with a different venue and pay an extra fee.
Upon successful completion of the course, you can move into employment or progress to further study. Jobs you can apply for include Accounts Assistant, Accounts Payable and Expenses Supervisor, Audit Trainee, Credit Controller, Finance Officer, Payroll Supervisor, Senior Bookkeeper or Tax Assistant.
