Course Overview
Our Performing and Production Arts pathway is for those who have a strong interest in developing as performer, practitioner, director, designer and/or technician in Theatre and/or television. You will develop your skills and knowledge of Performing and Production Arts, alongside your confidence and skills as a theatremaker in a small group. Located at the City Centre Campus, you will have the opportunity to work on a numbrt of different performance related projects across the year, with an end of year show performed at the Egg Theatre, part of the ilustrious Theatre Royal Bath.

How will I be taught and assessed?
This highly practical course involves working in workshop, studio and classroom settings. You will study in class, groups and individually and you will also be expected to work independently outside of college hours. You will create practical work individually and in small groups for performance, learn set material, take notes during lecture-based sessions and complete written assignments. You will develop work both independently and as a member of a team. Alongside exploring existing theatrical pieces, you will be expected to take part in writing, producing and the performance of original work that engages and challenges both you as an actor and the audience. Assessment is continuous throughout the year and in many different forms focusing on input and ideas throughout the creative process leading to performance. For Example: Vlogs, written journals, reflections, research discussions, creative books and performances.

What is the aim of the course?
You will have the opportunity to learn about what it takes to be an actor and theatre maker, alongside discovering the critical skills of performance such as teamwork and communication. You will explore different performance styles and how to use research and reflection to improve your work, as well as solo and group performance material, the nature of design, voice and movement, technical theatre and demonstrate how to embed research within your practical work. Throughout the year you will work as a small performance company to develop live and recorded performance work. Those who successfully complete their programme will achieve a University Arts London Level 2 Diploma in Performing and Production Arts.
