5 GCSES at grade 5 or above in English, Maths and Science or progression from the Engineering Transition Programme (Level 2) with a distinction and grade 4 in English, Maths and Science at GCSE.
How will I be taught and assessed?
All students will achieve two components of the Technical Qualification ‘Core’ and ‘Occupational Specialism’. The ‘Core’ component will be graded A*-E with 2 x external exams: Paper 1, Maths and Science and Paper 2, Engineering Concepts. In addition to this all students will be complete an Employer Set Project which is also externally marked. The Occupational specialism will be graded Pass/Merit/Distinction and we as a college have chosen the following pathways: 1. Mechanical Engineering 2. Electrical & Electronic Engineering In addition to this all students will complete a minimum of 315 hours industry placement.
Depending upon the occupational specialism chosen the following are examples of progression routes in either higher education or Apprenticeships: Mechanical Engineering: Engineering Design & Draughtsperson, BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering, BEng (Hons) Aerospace Technology Electrical and Electronic: Engineering: Engineering Design and Draughtsperson, BEng (Hons) Electrical/Electronic Engineering
