Course Overview

Would you like to learn how to use pure essential oils for therapeutic uses, how to massage a painful muscle or even how to treat the body using special techniques on the feet and hands? Complementary therapies will give you the tools to treat mind and body, using a range of popular therapies. Our Complementary Therapies Level 3 course provides the practical skills and internationally recognised qualifications to gain employment in the complementary and holistic therapies industry. We are fortunate to have strong links with local 5 star spas such as Lucknam Park, The Royal Crescent, The Priory and the Potting Shed treatment rooms at The Pig, who offer work experience and part-time employment to our students. The course will enable you to become a self-employed holistic practitioner, and there is also a strong possibility of securing employment during the course. You will have to complete a final practical exam demonstrating treatments and two externally written theory exams.

4 GCSEs at grade 4 or above , we prefer English Language and maths to be included.
You will learn by attending theory lessons and by practicing on fee paying clients who will become cases studies to assess progression in the subject. You will learn in our college Academy salon which is a realistic working environment. You will also participate in work experience alongside the course to gain strong industry development. The course includes visits to a variety of spas and offers opportunities for employer engagement. Throughout the course you will build a service portfolio of formative practical assessments and written work. There is a final graded assessment, two external theory exams, and a final end of year practical exam, attended by employers and an external examiner. You will be graded Pass, Merit or Distinction.
In addition to valuable work experience at some of the most highly regarded therapy spas, you will gain a nationally (and internationally) recognised Level 3 qualification. The skills you develop during this course will give you excellent preparation for a career in the complementary and holistic therapy industry. You could progress on the level 3 spa or take an alternative route into beauty therapy. Students will be able to take additional courses in the half term holidays if they wish, such as Pregnancy Massage and Cancer Touch qualification.

Commitment to attend each session in our college uniform and purchase a full hairdressing kit (details of this at time of enrolment).

Willingness to perform services on members of the public in our Real Working Environment (RWE) client sessions in a professional manner.

This course will involve attending College one Saturday a month as part of the main programme.

60 hours mandatory work experience (WEX) placement, block week for Level 2 and Level 3 full-time courses.  Along with, 60 hours voluntary work experience will also need completing (more information can be found at time of enrolments).
