We offer a variety of entry points depending on your qualifications, level 1 is a starting point to develop your skills in make-up, nail care, haircare and salon treatments leading to progression into specific areas such as level 2 hair or beauty.
These courses are predominantly for 16-19 year olds and have different requirements depending on level. Level 1: 4 GCSEs at grade 1 or above to include English Language, maths and Science.
You will need to purchase some materials / kit and a uniform at the start of your course. There may be some additional costs to cover course trips, these will be discussed when you start your year of study.
This programme will build the skills you need to work in beauty or hair salons, while also equipping you with an industry-recognised qualification at the relevant level. There will be opportunities for work experience and further specialist development as you progress through your studies. Level 1 concentrates on a basic level including Create a hair and beauty image using colour?, Face painting, Hand and nail care , Make up application?, Nail art, Blow-dry hair, Shampoo and condition hair, Plaiting hair, Colour hair using temporary hair colour, Customer service, retail and product promotion.
The course is taught through a combination of classroom and practical sessions. You will be assessed on a continuous basis within a salon environment. Assessment includes practical observations, projects, oral questions, written tests and the production of a portfolio of completed work. All units will be graded pass, merit or distinction.
