Sewing Skills - Zero Waste Fashion (24/25)

Course Overview

Start your exciting individual creative journey which celebrates fashion and experimentation with a relaxed approach with an eco friendly emphasis. Tasks are covered through a series of fully supported 'mini projects' where you will be introduced to a range of skills and techniques which investigate and encourage a more sustainable wardrobe. Weekly you will be encouraged to develop and apply skills to practical tasks. For example, learning and gaining confidence in basic sewing skills required to adapt existing clothing, processes and techniques to update and create something unique, creating new garments and accessories using recycled/reclaimed fabrics, learning how to make your current wardrobe work better for you through adapting and reworking existing pieces to avoid buying 'new', explore 'mending to be seen' and decorative techniques to celebrate the journey garments have made. Make use of those vintage finds, charity shop classics and flea market gems and give them a second life.
