Embark on an exciting creative journey that celebrates fashion and experimentation in a relaxed, eco-friendly environment. In this course, you will work on a series of fully supported "mini projects" that introduce a variety of skills and techniques aimed at promoting a more sustainable wardrobe.
Each week, you will be encouraged to develop and apply your skills through practical tasks, including:

  • Gaining confidence in basic sewing techniques to adapt existing clothing.
  • Learning processes to update and create unique garments and accessories using recycled or reclaimed fabrics.
  • Discovering ways to make your current wardrobe work better for you by reworking and adapting existing pieces to avoid buying new items.
  • Exploring "mending to be seen" and decorative techniques to celebrate the journey of your garments.

Make the most of vintage finds, charity shop treasures, and flea market gems by giving them a second life!

What Topics Are Covered?

Suitable for beginners and anyone wishing to refresh their knowledge
You will learn through demonstrations, practical tasks, and experimentation.
Fastenings and threads required for individual projects, tutor will advise if required
You will need to provide your own, recycled fabric/second hand clothing

Funding
If you are aged 19 or older, and are a UK national living in the UK or EEA for the last three years, you should be able to access government funding towards the cost of your course. Your course will either be free, or partially funded with a small fee to pay.

Free - if you are unemployed, looking for work and claiming benefits; Also, if you are employed & earning below 25k per year.

Partially Funded - if you earn 25,000 or more per year.

Not Funded - if you do not meet the residence requirements. You may be required to pay the full cost of your course, and will not be able to claim any government funding.
