Course Overview
Level 2 Certificate in Engineering is a great course for students with higher grades who want to develop skills and knowledge in order to progress into an apprenticeship, or to study at further higher levels. It takes learners from a variety of backgrounds, including beginners, those with particular interests, and those with prior experience, and moulds that knowledge to provide a desirable set of talents for this most interesting and exciting industry.
Completion of this course helps the student towards progression into apprenticeships and our Level 3 programmes.
A wide range of career options will be available including aerospace, design, manufacturing, defence, and many more. The wide range of topics that are covered will give baseline knowledge for the Level 3 course, or can be transferred into an apprenticeship.

This course is predominantly for 16-19 year olds and have different requirements depending on level. To study at Level 2, GCSE maths at grade 4, and 3 GCSEs at grade 3 or above. Applicants must be able to demonstrate an interest in Engineering. We are happy to accept all applications for review.
Costs are minimal and yet to be finalised, but should be no more than 40. Any course trips may incur an additional contributary cost.
The aim of the Level 2 Course is to develop the student's knowledge and skills in a range of areas including the theoretical and practical elements of Engineering, such that the student passes a valuable qualification.
Upon completion they will have progression route options including employment opportunities, apprenticeships, and further study. Alongside the main qualification, we also focus on developing personal skills and employability opportunities in a rich and diverse experience.
This programme is delivered through a combination of classroom lessons and practical workshop sessions. The student will complete through a series of tasks and reports upon those tasks. There is a short multiple-choice exam that must be passed.
The student must arrange a work experience placement for a minimum of one week (36 hours).
There will also be further tasks designed to prepare the student for their chosen progression route.
Successful completion of the Level 2 Engineering Course will enhance your prospects of progressing onto the Level 3 BTEC or T-Level courses, or of gaining an Apprenticeship within the industry, finding employment within the industry, or even progressing into other similarly practical courses or industries.
