Are you over 19 and wanting to gain the qualifications to enable you to study at university? The Access to Higher Education course is designed to prepare you for a higher education qualification. The programme will develop your skills and confidence to enable you to embark on a successful higher education career. Alongside your academic studies you will be supported by a personal tutor who will guide you through your UCAS application, monitor your well-being and prepare you for your progression to higher education.
Access to Higher Education is a QAA-recognised entry qualification for degree or diploma level studies at all universities in the UK, for a wide range of subjects.
The main subject areas on the Access to HE Health and Social Care course are: Biology, Sociology, Psychology, English and Study Skills. There is a broad range of interesting units which include Biomolecules, Health & Illness and Psychological Perspectives & Behaviours.
What topics are covered?
You will study Biology, Sociology, Psychology, English and Study Skills, these are called Subject Sets. There is a broad range of interesting units which will total the 60 credits required for example: Biomolecules & Key Chemical Principles, Health & Illness and Psychological Perspectives & Behaviours.

The Access to HE Health and Social Care course is a comprehensive Level 3 programme for learners wishing to progress onto a health care related degree at university including psychology, nursing, midwifery and social work. The course will provide learners with an excellent grounding to progress onto higher education.
The Access course is a one-year full time study programme for learners aged 19+, who have an interest in humanities. The course is delivered at the main City Centre Campus over three days.

We deliver the Ascentis Access to HE Diploma where you will study a range of units through the course of your programme. It is a full-time programme delivered face to face over three days per week at our City Centre Campus.
You will study a number of key subjects including: Biology, Sociology, Psychology, Study Skills and English. You will complete a range of different assessments designed to help you prepare for university including group work, lab reports, essays, examinations and presentations.
Target degrees for this Diploma include: Adult Nursing, Paediatric Nursing, Midwifery, Paramedic Science, Social Science, Psychology and Mental Health Nursing, employment in the Health Science or Social Care sector or progress onto an Apprenticeship.
