Course Overview

 An Early Years Educator: Plans and supervises child initiated and adult led activities which are based around the needs and interests of each individual child. Supports children to develop numeracy and language skills through games and play. Has key person responsibility to help ensure each child feels safe and secure.

This qualification is suitable for learners aged 16 and over. To count in the ratios defined in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) at Level 3, learners must hold a full and relevant Early Years Educator qualification and a Functional Skills Level 2 or GCSE 4/C in English and Maths.
An Early Years Educator will be able to work in a range of early years settings delivering the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), including full day care, children's centres, playgroups, pre-schools, nursery schools, reception classes and home-based provision.
  • Portfolio of Evidence, Practical demonstration/Assignment.
  • The apprenticeship has a blended learning approach, and we expect college attendance for the knowledge workshops.
  • You will then work the rest of your week in the early years setting to gain the practical elements.
Learners who achieve this qualification could progress into employment working with children from 0 to 5 years in roles such as Early Years Educator, nursery nurse, child minder, preschool assistant. Learners could also progress to further study or training such as: IAO Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People's Services (England) (RQF)
