Course Overview

This popular Studio Painting course provides further opportunity to extend your painting practice with guidance from a practising Artist. In these all day sessions, you will start with group workshops, which may include life drawiing with a life model, excercises based on an Artists work, and discussions into Art theory and history. These methods will support you as you go independently into your own paintiing practise in the afternoon session. The tutor will work on their own painting beside you, providing an opportunity to learn in 'real time', and will also offer helpful critique and encouragemnet as you need it. We end the day with a relaxed group discussion where you can receive peer feedback and gain inspiration from everyones work. Throughout the 10 weeks, you will be able to produce a few large scale paintings or a number of smaller projects.

This course is aimed at the more experienced painter who wishes to develop their personal visual language. It is not suitable for beginners. Please see the website for other Painting and Drawing courses on offer.
You will be supported throughout the learning process with practical and theoretical advice to help you develop your own work. There will be practical demonstrations of technique as well as formal teaching, discussion groups and peer support.
Paper, paints and drawing materials are all provided. If you would prefer to work on canvasses, please bring some along. Your tutor can advise on which and where to buy any additional materials you may like.
As a full day course, please bring anything that would make you more comfortable. An apron/overalls or wear appropriate clothing and practical footwear is essential.
