Course Overview

Are you keen to start a hands-on career training in a purpose-built environment? This qualification allows the learner to acquire knowledge and craft skills of electrical installation. It does not require occupational evidence from the workplace, so is suitable for learners who currently do not work within the electrical Industry (but may wish to do so). The qualification has been adapted from the QCF Diploma within the apprenticeship framework; so, facilitates progression to the industry recognised qualification. It will give the learner an opportunity to practice and be assessed in a secure environment on the installation of wiring systems together with the relevant theory of electrical installation. The learner can utilise the IET On Site Guide with some of the units; and acquire the knowledge of electrical science and principles. The qualification covers health and safety, electrical installation theory and technology, electrical installation methods, procedures and requirements, electrical installation craft skills and electrical science and principles.

Four GCSEs at grade 4 ( C ) or above which must include Maths
Learners must provide safety boots and ensure they have clothing that is appropriate for a workshop environment.
The aim of this course is to provide learners with the opportunity to gain an understanding of electrical installation and to develop practical skills in a classroom environment. Those who successfully complete their programme will achieve a nationally recognised qualification at the appropriate level.
This vocational qualification is taught through a mixture of practical and theory lessons, with further learning and understanding developed via directed self-study. Assessment consists of internally set coursework and assignments, in addition to externally set exams.
On successful completion of this course, you could continue to the Level 3 Diploma in Electrical Installation. Alternatively there is a range of flexible and specialised trade training to get you started in your chosen career. There are also numerous opportunities for apprenticeships and work-based learning for those already in employment.
