This pathway will inspire and enthuse you to consider a career in the Health & Social Care sector. You will be given the opportunity to gain a broad understanding of the sector, and develop essential knowledge and skills to enable you to work in a health and social care profession. This includes an introduction to the general themes associated with the sector, care values, life stages and health studies.
These courses are predominantly for 16-19 year olds and have different requirements depending on level. To study at level 1 4 GCSEs at grade 1 or above and a clear DBS check (To be completed at the start of the course).
No additional costs at Level 1.
The aim of the pathway is to provide you with an opportunity to explore the health care sector and to gain an understanding and interest in developing the skills and knowledge to work within the industry. The courses are most suited to 16-18 year olds starting their vocational learning. Those who successfully complete their programme will achieve a nationally recognised qualification at the appropriate level.
You will be assessed through classroom-based lessons, coursework and assessment in related settings.
Depending on where you start this pathway, you can progress to Level 2 or 3 of Health & Social Care. There are also options to take Children's Care, Learning and Development Level 3 course. Outside of the College, you can move onto employment within Health and Social Care or within Health Sciences. There are also opportunities to go into related traineeships or Level 2 or 3 apprenticeships with greater focus workplace experience.
