You do not need any prior Light Vehicle Maintenance knowledge to enrol in this course. However, for the best chance of success, we recommend that you begin your studies with a good standard of English and Maths. All applicants will be invited to an interview with the course tutor which may include an initial assessment to ensure the qualification is appropriate for them. It will also be the opportunity to ask any specific questions you might have about the programme.
The assessments for this qualification have a practical focus and combine various assessment methods, in order to suit the subject and levels of units contained within it. This includes an online test and practical tasks.

This certificate is ideal for learners aiming to enter the retail motor vehicle industry or progress to complete the full IMI Level 1 Diploma in Automotive Maintenance or an Apprenticeship in Autocare Technician Level 2.
