Course Overview

This 12-week course with a focus on getting you ready for employment, during the course you will work as a team to face and overcome fun challenges. You will have experience of working in different environments. The course offers many opportunities to develop your personal skills. 

The programme will help you to build your confidence and real-life skills such as teamwork, communication, problem solving and reliability. You will get to experience many different opportunities to challenge yourself and discover new things. 

Week 1: Introductions to the course, get to know other people in your group. You'll find out more about the course and the opportunities that lie ahead. 
Week 2: Residential four days away to try new things, a chance to get away and bond with your peers. You'll likely being doing activities like climbing, tunneling and raft building to name a few!
Weeks 3-6: Community project during this time you will choose a project to focus on in your local community, 
Weeks 7-8: Work placement you will spend this time at your chosen workplace, this is the chance for you to put to work the skills you have developed since starting the course and get a good feel for the world of work! 
Week 9: Careers week you will work on your next steps, achieving your personal goals and creating a CV ready for your future. 
Weeks 10-11: Team challenge you and the team will help others in the community! You can choose a local charity group to support. 
Week 12: Presentation - you will use this week to show off the skills you have learnt, celebrate what you have achieved and finalise any portfolio work.

You must be 16-25 years old and not in Education, Employment or Training.

Once you have completed the enrollment link you will be contacted by the team leader to book in for an interview. This will likely be held at the college and will include an opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

Successful students can access further courses within Bath College, that is appropriate to their development. Throughout the Prince's Trust programme you will hear about opportunities within the Prince's Trust. 

Students are able to move on to full or part-time work once they have completed the programme.

This course is assessed by portfolio, you will be required to carry out work to build your portfolio to demonstrate your understanding. You will gain a nationally recognised qualification in either:

  • Entry Level 3 Certificate in Employment, Teamwork and Community Skills 
  • Level 1 Certificate in Employment, Teamwork and Community Skills

The Team Leader will support you to identify which level is best for you.

Free for 1625-year-olds, please note to be eligible you must be NEET (Not in full time Education, Employment or Training).
The course will not affect your Jobseekers Allowance.
