Sport and Exercise Science Level 3 - Women's Football Academy (25/26)
Course Overview
Sport and Exercise is our most advanced level 3 programme, specifically designed to help students gain a vast range of knowledge inside of sport. To allow for a rich and immersive learning experience, students can work freely across and within a range of technical skills areas which reflect current industry practice. Throughout the 2 years, students will embark on a journey to cover the fundamentals of a range of areas in sport science to build each student's academic knowledge, whilst gaining a strong understanding of the opportunities that are available for employment and Higher Education. BTEC Nationals have been developed in consultation with industry and appropriate sector bodies to ensure that the qualification content and approach to assessment aligns closely to the needs of employers. Where they exist, and are appropriate, National Occupational Standards (NOS) and professional body standards have been used to establish unit content. The Bath City Football Academy programme is designed to offer young adults the opportunity to gain an academic qualification alongside developing as a footballer under the guidance of highly experienced UEFA B licence qualified coaches. The programme offers a range of pathways for those with passion and interest, to apply themselves whilst playing and learning. The course offers a range of exit routes including entry into university, scholarships, recruitment from professional clubs and full-time job placements.

Five full GCSEs at grade C/4 or above including English language, Maths, science and/or PE.
There is an academy fee of 150 per academic year that students pay on enrolment, this is a contribution towards training kit, physio access, facilities and transport to training and games.
This course aims to develop a learners knowledge and skills in a range of areas including the theoretical and practical elements. Upon completion of this sport and exercise science course, progression routes include employment opportunities and higher education as well as professional recognition with a number of regulatory bodies. Alongside the main qualification, we also focus on developing personal skills and employability opportunities in a rich and diverse experience.
Units will be assessed in a variety of methods including practical, group work and exams to ensure all students needs are covered. This also allow for further development of core skills, and soft skills, required within the workplace, as well as replicating that of assessments at higher education. The Football Academy typically consists of two training sessions, one Strength and Conditioning session and an opportunity to compete in both the English College League and the South West Counties league. All football academy students will also have access to Physiotherapy.
Sport and Exercise Science will give students a broad range of universities that will accept them. To differentiate from others, this course will enable students to apply for more prestigious degree courses that are sciences based such as Physiotherapy and Sports Science, on top of a large array of other courses. As well as this, the course will give students the skills to work in the sports industry and potentially gain a place on an apprenticeship in this sector. Student can also progress onto the Foundation Degree in Sport, Coaching and Exercise Science which is run by the college in partnership with University of Gloucestershire.
