Course Overview
The Level 3 Health and Social Care qualification is designed to develop the essential knowledge and practical skills required for working in care environments. It includes a combination of mandatory and optional units, allowing learners to customise their learning experience based on their interests, career goals, and job responsibilities.
You will need to be working, volunteering or on practical placement, as
you will need to show competence in both knowledge and skills via observation in
the workplace. You will need to be able to demonstrate skill in practising
regulated activities such as giving or assisting individuals with medication,
infection control measures and assisting with personal care activities.

While there are no formal entry requirements, learners must be aged 19 or
older to enroll.
All applicants will be invited to an interview with the course tutor which
may include an initial assessment to ensure the qualification is appropriate for
them. It will also be the opportunity to ask any specific questions you might
have about the programme.
A practical placement, volunteering, or employment in a care setting is required for this qualification, as learners must demonstrate both theoretical knowledge and practical competence.
Upon completion, learners can advance to qualifications such as:
- Level 4 Diploma in Adult Care
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Adult Care
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and
- Young People's Services (England)
This qualification prepares learners for roles such as:
- Lead Adult Care Worker

- Lead Personal Assistant

To complete this qualification, learners must achieve a total of 58 credits:
- Mandatory Units: 13 Units = 39 credits
- Optional Units: A minimum of 19 credits, with at least 35 credits achieved
at Level 3 or above.

Blended, the majority will be classroom workshops weekly, with some observations of practice in your workplace, and some blended learning using Microsoft Teams.
