Distance Learning & Highways
It’s never been easier to study remotely. Our distance learning and our Highways Engineering courses are studied online with feedback from an experienced assessor. The courses are flexible so as to fit into a busy schedule, or for learners who require a less intensive study programme. Open up the sections below to find out more about each offering, and to view our courses.
- Distance Learning
Our online distance learning courses are ideal for learners who are either looking for employment or want to add new knowledge to enhance their professional skills in their current roles.
Learning is aimed at adults and takes place online, with marking and feedback from a knowledgeable and experienced assessor. Learners are awarded a nationally recognised certificate.
Learners can start and finish at any time of the year. Tuition fees are funded from the Adult Education Budget, meaning that learners are not charged a fee to enrol. There are no formal entry requirements, but national funding guidelines do apply.
In partnership with Pearson Edexcel Bath College has developed a unique qualification in Highways Engineering. We have provided training to industry professionals across the UK and internationally for the last 30 years. It is recognised as the foremost qualification of it’s type in the UK.
There are no exams. Learners are assessed via written assignments and projects, which have been developed with input from experienced industry professionals. Learning and assessment takes place online using bespoke distance learning materials. The programme is designed to start at any time and be suitable for busy adult learners to study alongside work or other commitments.
Learners are allocated an assessor with industry experience to guide their studies, assess them and provide feedback on their work.
The overall diploma consists of two compulsory modules, two elective modules and a work-based study project. Completion of five modules results in being awarded the full level 4 Professional Diploma.
