Course Overview

Designed for industry leaders of the future, the Level 5 units give students the opportunity to specialise in a digital-technology related occupational area and to progress to degree-level study. The units prepare students to move on to specific areas of digital technologies at Level 6 or to enter employment with the qualities and abilities necessary for roles that require personal responsibility and decision making.

The course includes units in; Business Intelligence, Internet of Things and Emerging Technologies

Students will be able to develop and apply their own ideas to their studies, to deal
with uncertainty and complexity, to explore solutions, demonstrate critical evaluation
and use both theory and practice in a wide range of digital technology situations.

The HND requires HNC Digtal Technologies, HNC Computing or equivalent qualifications with Grade C/4 GCSE Maths and English. Mature students will be considered individually and are encouraged to apply.
IT equipment required for the course is provided by the College. However, it would be an advantage if you have a PC at home for independent study.

You will be taught via a mixture of lectures, laboratory workshops and directed independent study tasks. Work and progress is assessed by a range of methods, which may include assignments, projects, case studies and practical exercises. Employers may also be involved with project work and other assessments to help ensure that course content is up to date and relevant.

Qualification: Higher National Diploma in Digital Technologies.

The Level 5 Higher National Diploma is recognised by higher education providers (Universities) as meeting admission requirements to many relevant BSc digital technologies courses.
