Course Overview

A Civil Engineering Technician provides technical support to construction professionals and engineers in the design, development, construction, commissioning, decommissioning, operation or maintenance of the built environment and infrastructure. Technicians will be required to have a broad skills base to work in areas which include sustainable construction, structural integrity, geotechnics, materials, ground works, trenching, footings , various engineering, utilities management, plant equipment and power. Civil engineers will be involved in all aspects of the built environment from planning, application, build and handover. Ideal for those with 12 months or more experience working in a trade role e.g. Site Carpenter, Bricklayer, Electrician or similar, this Level 3 apprenticeship programme is a great opportunity for apprentices that have already completed a Level 2 trade apprenticeship programme or equivalent full-time course and would like to further enhance their knowledge and skills. This programme is ideal for young people with work experience right through to mature apprentices wanting to retrain. Experience of Project Management desirable but not essential.

Apprentices without level 2 (GCSE 4/C) in English, and a Level 2 (GCSE 6/B) Maths will need to achieve this level prior starting the apprenticeship programme.

Classroom and work based teaching and assessment to monitor, knowledge, skills and behaviours to ensure industry competencies.
